Hi
I want to install Win98 on a partition of one of my 3 discs in order to do some housework on another PC, namely moving disc contents about to utilize unused space, etc.
If I put '98 (or XP) on a partition of a slave drive, can I expect to encounter any errors with the M.B.R. or will it simply be 'altered' to reflect the new O/S and present me with a choice of bootable drives at startup?

I don't want to go ahead if I'm going to be left only with the option of booting to the new installation.

Thanks for any help.

Installing WinME/98/98SE/95 last will indeed destroy the ability to boot other versions of Windows as it rewrites the MBR/Master Boot Record.

Installing WinME/98/98SE/95 requires putting it on the boot/system drive or partition designated as C: by the BIOS.

Microsoft's rule of thumb for dual-booting/multi-booting Windows is to install the oldest/earliest version first followed by successively newer versions.
