View Full Version : "D" drive files in recycle bin

I've read the posts on Recycle Bin, and this is different.
I have been going through recovered data, and deleting to recycle bin.
PG 4.1.0.35 Purchased will NOT recognize "D" drive files in the Recycle Bin.
It tells me the bin is empty, yet there is over 13MB of data there.
I cannot find any way to force PG to locate and shred these files.
Nor can I find any way to force PG to scan and delete data from any "D" drive.
Any pointers?
Thanks.

Hi Curmudgeon,
What is you're operating system? Windows Vista?

You know, I kew I forgot to put something in that post.
XP Pro, IE6, SP2.
I have at least two drives on this tower, the "D" (Disk "1") being bigger at 152.66GB, Disk "2" (part of "1") also 152.66GB NTFS. It is a 305.33GB striped drive.
Disk "0", or "C" is 28.61GB NTFS
1.60GHz, 1.50GB RAM

From what I know, it';s normal if your C drive shows empty. Coz, each partition will have its own recyclee bin. So, there should be 1 recycle bin in your D drive (must be hidden). You know rite how to see hidden file? So, all of the 13 MB files are inside the D drive recycle bin.
And, Privacy Guard or what ever will only clean the drive where you install your Windows. Or something like that... Moreover, diff partition may have different custom settings.. depend on you... etc etc....:P
hope it helps... :D

I have one recycle bin icon on the desktop.
My computer is configured so hidden files are not.
The recycle bin that opens from the desktop, the same one that the PG sees, has over 13MB of data, yet PG says it's empty.
I had searched for a recycle bin in "D" earlier, and there isn't one that I can yet find.
However, the desktop icon opens only one recycle bin, it holds the data, and PG cannot see it.
Nor can I configure PG to clean "D" drive.

You may try to follow the steps below just to see if it resolves this problem.
You can add the recycle bin into the Clean Custom Items section, please go to Privacy Guardian-> Clean Now-> Expand Clean Custom Items-> 'Click here to start Custom Clean Wizard'-> Enter a name-> Check 'Folders for Cleaning -> Navigate C:\Recycle Bin -> Check Include subfolders -> Check 'Change default masks' - Ensure the text box is empty and does not display '*.*' -> Add.
Now perform the clean with Privacy Guardian.

That seems to have done something.
At least the bin is now empty.
I will try again in a few days to see what happens next time.
Thanks.
