A few months ago I purchased Spyware Doctor from this site in US$ for a price that came out about UK£ 15.00.
Now I can only purchase in UK£ for a price of UK£ 29.99 - nearly double the price.
The same goes for Registry Mechanic, the price has doubled, if you are purchasing from the UK.
This is no joke. I am livid about the increases.
What can be done about it?

They probably ended the 'special promotion' prices. Relax, log into 'My account' and be sure You are out of 'auto renewal'. As time closes for renewal, You get new 'special' offers that will probably be much better than the 'auto renewal' price! :)

Reodor,
I hope that you are right, but the margin suggests "rip-off".

It might depend of Your area of living and taxes (VAT) added.
I'm lucky living in a tax-free community, 3 comps = 60USD = 30 LB Sterling = 10/comp.
Who says the comps has to be 'together' in the same 'address' the license is ordered from?

I've brought up this problem before and there's no choice (unless Reodor sells you one of his three licences:D ) of currency for those of us unfortunate enough to live in the euro zone or even more unfortunately in the pound zone.
Waiting for the special offers.......

Prices for PC Tools software always seem cheaper in the USA.
Is there a way for those of us who do not live there, to purchase and download from a USA site?
I did not pay exorbitant prices when I first purchased the software; and I certainly do not expect to pay double to renew.

Wrong question.
Right question: what happened to the U.S. dollar?
I can remember a great vacation in Britain when the pound was affordable. No more.
Five years ago a US dollar would have bought almost 1.5 Canadian dollars. A few months ago it only bought 0.93. First time in my lifetime (that I remember) that it was below 1.00.
Maybe PC Tools hasn't taken this into account and "recalculated" the (devalued) value in other currencies.

Here's a reply from support when I did a search that may answer you're question.
Also noticed that on the purchase page, a license subscription allows users to install it on 3 Pc's :)
Regarding the price difference between countries. Yes, the prices are different. Reason being that different regions (not just US and Europe) have different costs associated with providing products to them. For example the cost of advertising, support, and other marketing activities being run in each country.
The pricing set in each region of the world is adjusted to these factors.
That said though, our customers can select a different currency to pay with when placing orders however by default the pricing is set according to your location (plus any GST/Sales tax/VAT applicable).
Please be advised that your credit card issuer may make an extra charge for the conversion from the foreign currency to your local currency on your statement.
I hope that helps.

Gambit,
Many thanks for the search post. Useful info.
I have been searching other sources and it would seem that the PC Tools price for UK is now about twice that of prices in the USA. However, you can still get the lower price on some sites.
Of course, I also came across well regarded competitor software products, selling for the low price equal to the one I originally paid for SD. It follows that I will now consider them, as I will not pay double to renew SD.
PCTIS price has also doubled here in the UK this month. There is no way I would go for that at the current price.

Gambit, any idea how one can 'select a different currency to pay with when placing orders' ?
