Hello everyone ..

I hope this is my last resort of finding the right way to get back my files ..

If you guys dont help - I dont think anyone will ..

Lets start from the begining:
I had a directory (folder) on my Hard drive in which I had folders encrypted with XP encryption. I used my account which has Administator rights. (not the default administrator acount)

I connected my laptop (with standard net adapter) and tried to copy the encrypted files to the laptops drive. And I got an error message.
Then is when I discovered that my Encrypted files are no longer accesible by me. I couldnt change or read them. Nothing!
I can not even change the encryption settings (key not trusted)
These files remained out of limit to acount that I was using all along, and who had the ownership rights!
But Ive done nothing wrong to make my files lock for the acout that made them encrypted.

I tried many things ...
- backing up the files, and coping them to another drive.
- backing them up to a FAT32 partition - nothing.
- using default admin acount.
- coping my key to a file, and adding it in console ..
....

nothing helped!

Please note that I didnt format my disk, changed system files, install new operating system, didnt change passwords .. I even didnt add new users. So the keys could be lost... I thinks they are someplace on the drive, but are they?

Files remain locked ..
(some of the encrypted photos show on the thumbnail and some dont, why?)

If anyone can land a hand ... please do ..

You cant imagine how much this means ..

THANKS IN ADVANCE

If you had backed the EFS private key to a .pfx file then you could try to import it back into the user profile while logged on as that user and try to decrypt the files.

Otherwise, here's another option for you http://www.elcomsoft.com/aefsdr.html (http://www.elcomsoft.com/aefsdr.html) to look at.
