I had to remove the new version and revert back to version 5.1.178 here are the problems I encountered.

1. AV conflicted with super ad blocker, NOD32
2. Turned off AV
3. Site Guard conflicted with every website I went to including this forum
4. Mail guard no email could get through
5. Scan would stop responding
6. Turned off AV, SG, MG my system stopped responding, could not manually shut down SD through task manager had to use reset button.

You should never use more than one real-time AntiVirus program. This can lead to system crashes and conflicts.
I recommend you deactivate the AV-plugin. To do so, please go to this page and enter your license key:

It states in my post "I turned off / disabled the antivirus"... what more can I do?

Hi
If you follow the link and disable the Antivirus plugin, then download the stand-alone Spyware Doctor from here (http://www.pctools.com/mirror/sdsetup.exe).
Then uninstall the Spyware Doctor that you have, restart your pc and then install the version from the link.

Just to be on the proactive side I restarted my computer 3 times... No hope I am back using 5.1.273

I installed IE8 beta 1 .... ha ha SD would not work!!!! Hate to say it PC tools has many problems facing them.

The developers are aware of this issue and are currently working on a fix for this. I'll update you once its been released.

I installed IE8 beta 1 .... ha ha SD would not work!!!! Hate to say it PC tools has many problems facing them.

Spyware Doctor is working fine even though I'm using IE8. Must be something with your system. :confused:

Running SD v5.1.0.273; new version does not work at all, if you don't believe me look at the other threads.

Currently running Vista SP1 and have been since the the day it was released RTM.

What are the correct settings to stop SD from downloading and installing the AV?

What settings are recommended for updates? and how often is updating recommended?
