Would appreciate some feedback. On a Compaq Model 5004US, with a Windows 2000 OS, the device manager shows no problems, but there is an unknown device listed under "Keyboards". However, when I go to add-remove hardware in the control panel, it shows a problem with my PS-2 Mouse and the unknown keyboard device. In the Admin's Tools, Computer management shows an error 32 for "ACPI\PNP0303\4&2EEFE43E&0. Which I believe is for an Enhanced keyboard controller (101/2-key). It also shows an error 32 for "ACPI\PNP0F13\4&2EEFE43E&0, which is the PS/2 Port for PS/2-style Mice. Last but not least the Found New Hardware Wizard generates an install error (Service could not be started. It is disabled or has no driver) everytime I reboot and I have to click on finish to make it go away. My resources are:

IRQ Number Device
9 Microsoft ACPI-Compliant System
11 NVIDIA GeForce2 GTS (Compaq)
11 Dazzle DVC II PCI Device
11 Accton EN1207D Series PCI Fast Ethernet Adapter
11 VIA USB Universal Host Controller
11 VIA USB Universal Host Controller
11 SoundMAX Integrated Digital Audio
13 Numeric data processor
8 System CMOS/real time clock
12 Logitech-compatible Mouse PS/2
12 msi8042
1 Not Available
1 msi8042
4 Communications Port (COM1)
6 Standard floppy disk controller
14 Primary IDE Channel
15 Secondary IDE Channel

How do you fix something like this? Please...

Have you upgraded to Windows 2000 from another OS?

Is it the Compaq Easy Access Keyboard you are using ?

OK that sounds messy, so I recommend you Un-install then Install all device and hardware drivers, and if you really want to solve the problem, nuke your system and re-install windows.

Yes to both questions. I upgraded from Windows-Me.

An excellent solution if I can't resolve it...

Prersario's are designed for consumer operation and there is limited support for Windows 2000. Although Compaq do have a selection of drivers for Windows 2000 there is no driver available for the easy access keyboard. You may be able to determine the vendor of the keyboard and check their web site.

The attached link provides more information from Compaq.

I have heard of tons of problems people have had upgrading ME to 2000. Microsoft does not support this upgrade path, and due to problems I've seen I don't recommend it. All of the problems I've heard about went away after installing Win2000 on a freshly formatted drive.
