spyware doctor latest version crashes smart update

hi
i downloaded an evaluation version of latest version of spyware doctor(5.5.xx)
installed on vista home premium.
uac is on(vista with default settings) when i finished the install.
i run smart update,it crashes

i only use the latest nod32 software 3.xxx
but i tried it with exact same software on my laptop and it worked fine(diffrent vista version though,ent verses home premium on non working one)

NOD32 uses weird "tunneling" technology in it's IMON internet filter. Could you try updating with it disabled?

ill try it although whats weird is
its diffrent hardware(not that it matters)but same exact version of nod32 installed on my laptop works just fine.weird
i also tried disabling uac(which is disable on other computer) and also disabling firewall(which is disabled on other computer)
both didnt help.
anyway tried disabling web security feature didnt help.
i think its either conflict with some other program or something with other dll or something(which is same)

You say different hardware...Has one computer got an nVidia chipset?

the one that works has nvidia:)
otherone is just an hp laptop. so special software installed(i think)
you can check the crash report.
i wonder whats going on there:(

Does the update work in Safe Mode?

didnt try it yet ,i was going to try it in safe mode+networking to see what the heck is going on.
ill try it later i still think it cant be the chipset
that laptop where it crashes,doesnt have nvidia chipset.

The latest version will resolve this issue, ie, SDv5.5 - http://www.pctools.com/forum/showthread.php?t=50177.

The Google pack start edition v5.5 will be available soon which will address this issue. No timeframe has yet been confirmed at this stage. I'll let you know once I receive any updates. Apologies for the inconvenience.

what google pack starter edition are you talking about? i didnt install that google add-on during install.
i just installed the spyware doctor 5.5xx.xx latest version which works on couple of pc's,but on this specific one the smart update feature crashes(everything else seem to work fine)
do you have somekind of idea where the problem might be?
is it aconflict with some other software on that pc?

The Google pack starter edition is the free version of SD. This is currently on version 5.1. Looking at the error report, I can see that you are using 'this' version, ie v5.1. The problem you are experiencing with this pc (smart update issue) has been resolved in version 5.5. If you wish to use the Google pack, you'll need to wait until the v5.5 is released which will resolve this issue. The new version should be available soon for the Google Pack.

thats why one works and one doesnt ,they dont have same version:)
i intalled 5.5 and it works flawlessly.
