I have had Vista on my PC for a while, but I never used it. So to save me having to select XP from the boot loader when you turn the computer on, I think I just deleted it from my boot.ini.

[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOW S
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition" /fastdetect /NoExecute=OptIn

This is what I have in my boot.ini

When I turn my computer on I don't get a screen to select an operating system, any help as to how I can do that?

If you haven't already solved this. Right click on 'My Computer' and select 'Properties' and click on 'Advanced Settings' in the left hand pane. Select the 'Advanced' tab and in the section 'Startup and Recovery' click on 'Settings'.

You can select here what default operating system you want to boot from, using the drop down arrow, and make sure there is a tick in the box beside 'time to select operating systems' and you can set the boot screen to be displayed for as long as you want.

PS. Sorry I gave you the instructions to set the boot screen in Vista forgetting you are in XP, but it can found in the same place in XP, except you don't have that 'Index Experience' window when you select 'Properties', you get straight into the options.
