View Full Version : Manual Uninstall Via Reg Mech

I have 2 old versions of Netscape installed that I no longer use but can't uninstall. There was a time when I used one as my web browser and the other, even older one, as an integral part of a Brittanica Encyl. Both (or perhaps remnants of both) are in one folder. One shows up in the list of programs when I open Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs (W2K SP4), namely Netscape Communicator. When I push the Remove button I get a message that the uninstall program cannot be found.

Here is my question. Can I effectively uninstall them by simply deleting the entire folder containing them, and then running Reg Mech to clean the references to them out of the registry?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Harry

Hey Harry,

It appears that the uninstall file for Netscape is corrupt, therefore you are unable to uninstall Netscape or use Netscape. You have 2 options, you can either re-install Netscape and perform and uninstall OR you can delete the Netscape folder.

If Netscape is no longer connected and you perform a scan with Registry Mechanic, this should remove any references to Netscape.
