I uninstalled TF Pro recently and now when I try to install it I get this. Unable to execute file. Program Files/ThreatFire/TF Tray exe. It also mentions "Create process failed do to code 14001 application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling may fix the problem." I did try, but no good. I installed something else to make sure I could and it did. Then I uninstalled it and tried TF with only AVG Pro and no good. I am using Windows XP. Just wondering why this may be happening. Thanks.

Sent you a PM djames. Did what you suggested, but still same error.

I have tried everything under the sun to install this today and get the same error. Have turned off all other security apps during install, did reboots, whatever, all fails. Kind of suspect Comodo v3 and its Defense+ even though the firewall was turned off.

Could this be the problem? Do I need to remove "Stop ThreatFire"?

Could be, we have not repeated this behavior in house. And you can imagine that we install and uninstall TF allot.

Well I give up! I may never be able to get TF again. I've tried everything I could think of, including uninstalling Comodo and restoring my pc to a point before I removed the TF service. Indeed the service was listed after the restore but it didn't matter. During the installation you get the error in the screenshot and then when you try to open TF you are informed the \TFGui.exe is configured incorrectly.

Just want to add my two cents. I had the exact same problem as yours and thought it may have been from a Webroot Desktop Firewall install. I did a restore point to a day before I installed Webroot firewall and this fixed the TF install problem. ratchet, you said you did a System Restore Point to a time before you removed TF. But have you tried a Restore Point to a time after you uninstalled TF, but before Comodo? I hope I made some sense with what I just explained here, but if not then again. With the same install error as yours, it didn't help when I restored to a point before TF was uninstalled, but it did fix the same problem you are having after I restored to a point after TF was uninstalled, but before Webroot Desktop Firewall was installed.

I understood you Woodward, however, I've had Comodo v3 since the day it was released (didn't look up the release note date). I only keep restores at 7% so I'm sure that date is gone. Hope you have a Merry Christmas!

Thanks ratchet. And you too. I also hope you find a solution to your TF install problem. djames is very helpful so hopefully with his help you will. Apparently there is something wrong here, but very perplexing. As I mentioned I had Webroot Firewall installed and uninstalled before my troubles with TF, and I also wondered about registry cleaners doing something like Regseeker and CCleaner. But I used both of those before reinstalling TF this time and no troubles. Something else I failed to mention for what it's worth. Was that I also went back to an Erunt registry back up that I made long before the restore point date that I eventually used, and it still didn't help. Only that restore point did. I found this strange because you would think the registry back up would have been the same one that I had when TF installed without any problems. Oh well I know how you feel as it happened to me and again i hope it gets resolved for you. Take care.

Fortunately this is not a critical security issue. For years I've never even had any hips type software and have never really had any malware breaches. I use NOD32 and several anti-spyware apps. The initial upgrade of Comodo from v2.4 to v3 pretty much caused the same problems that v3.0.13.9 of TF caused. After reinstalling it without the Defense+ feature it was fine. Then after a couple updates it ran smoothly even with D+ so I actually have hips protection. My goal was to disable D+ and just use TF (or maybe both) because, for the short time I had TF, I really liked it. Shortly we'll be traveling to some of the childrens homes for the holidays so I'll play around with this some more next week. Again, have a great holiday!
