I am installing a security camera system and computer that must run 24/7. I need the computer to:
1. Automatically restart/reboot after a power failure.
2. Automatically start the security camera software program upon system restart.
I am running Vista.
Thanks for any help.

1. That's a setting in the BIOS plus you have to set WinVista to log on without requiring a username and password.

2. Copy the programs' icon to the Startup Folder in Start, Programs.

Note: it would probably be best to get a large-capacity UPS/Universal Power Supply [battery backup] that will keep the computer running during short-term power failures in addition to making the changes in #1. Some UPS' can keep the computer running 30 minutes, especially if the monitor is not on it.

Thanks for your help. I changed the BIOS setting to enable an automatic restart, set up a user account with no password enabling an automatic login without a signon or password, and finally created a shortcut in the "Startup" folder so that the camera software can restart unattended.
