Hi PCTools,
Previously I have provided feedback on performance issues with IE7 & Javascript popups, with measurable opening delays that were attributable to SD5, and which lessened with the arrival of SD5.1. The delays could be measured easily with a stop watch.
With 5.5.0.111 beta I cannot measure any slowdown now with IE7 startup or JS popups. Browser surfing no longer feels "lazy", it's back to it's "old self". The numbers are back to the pre-SD5 measurements!
Dreamweaver, one of my key apps, seems more spritely too during FTP uploads.
Well done on cracking this performance issue.
Regards, Len

Interesting note, but I'm not quite sure what Your references are.(SD 4? CounterSpy? ...???)
I'm running the PCTISS Beta which seems to have the same anti-malware engine as You mentioned, but I have put a question in the Beta forum to get it confirmed.
Compared to the 'old' V5 (252) that I had and AVG Free there is a slight improvement, but no revolution. I would like to install it on another comp with pentium D, and 1 Gig of memory as reference, but not until they get an 'auto scan' on inserted memmory sticks.

Hi Reodor,
My reference is my PC without SD5 installed.
By way of example, without SD installed it takes IE7 on my PC a little over 1 second (as measured by a stopwatch) to open a 300 word plain-text Javascript popup.
With early releases of SD5.0 installed, the popup would take an extra 5-6 seconds to open (making these releases unusable for me, and probably one of the behaviours that led to the reported slow responsiveness of IE7 - see the reported issues "sticky").
By SD5.1, this was down to around 0.5-1 seconds (a barely noticeable extra delay).
In SD5.5, the total time to open the popup is a little over 1 second, which is the same time that it takes my PC to open the popup in IE7 without SD installed.
Hope this helps clarify.
Regards, Len
