Hi jdwvw,
The AV plugin will be available sometime next week. I'll let you know once I receive more information.

This means installing another AV for a week - right? Can PCT AV be used in the meantime without buying it? Or should I go to AVG for example? Any thoughts?

Hi Vecchio,
I'm trying the pctav but I seem to have a lot of slowdowns - opening Firefox etc, which I didn't have with the SD/AV. If it carries on I'll try avast - I've used it before.
Thanks!

I'm using the registered PCT AV with SD 5.5b. I still had a couple of months left on it. Im not too sure about the AV program. It seems very slugish. SD 5.0(1).0.xxx only took about 50-60 min to run a full scan with the root kit feature enabled. The AV took several hours.
It seems to slow down Outlook, IE7 and Fire Fox a lot.
SD 5.5 seems to be running good though. (So Far Anyway)

Am I missing something?
If You 'need' an AV in addition to SD V5.5 why don't You just try the suit, PCTISS where the AV is integrated? Why are You trying to build Your own suite from PC Tools seperate products?
Takes me 1,5 hrs to do a complete scan, but.

Hi jdwvw,

I'm starting to get a bit confused here.
At the moment there are two Beta's running: The PCTISS and the SD V5.5.
If I got it right the 5.5 is part of the PCTISS (still waiting for confirmation).
If people are not too afraid of 'all eggs in one basket' why have the AV as plug-in to SD V5.5 when it is all in PCTISS? If they do not want the Firewall and Spam, just disable it.
I might understand having the SDV 5.5 as seperate for those who wants a different AV as well as those who wants AV with a different anti spy/malware, but to run 'Beta' with V5.5 + AV plug-in when the PCTISS is running as well is to me an overkill!
To avoid double postings and jumping between I would suggest tho 'merge' the two toppics and just make one: BETA PCTISS and SDV5.5

Well, Reodor, that's exactly the question - does the PCTISS have SD 5.5 in it???
I was about to follow your suggestion and try the suite when I saw SD 5.5 had been released in Beta, and not knowing it didn't have the AV plug-in, I thought I'd give it a try. Now I'm confused and something is also slowing me down here. I'll try the suite if it contains 5.5.

The engine in the suite seems to be the same as in 5.5 but as I said: I posted a question in the PCTIS forum to get it confirmed, but no answer.
There is something 'funny' going on.

I did try the IS program. I uninstalled it within 24 hrs because it screwed my pc up. The PCT Firewall locks up my computer. It is part of the suite and does the same thing there too. I couldn't even use my pc after installing it. I have had good luck with the zone alarm firewall when I was trying it out a couple of months ago. I will try PCT IS again before too long though.

1: Did You have another firewall active running at the same time?
2: Did You try just disable the firewall?

Please note you have to uninstal the PCTFWP before instal pctis
Hope this helps

Everything had been uninstalled, computer was rebooted and RM ran before even attempting the install of IS. I had to go into safe mode just to be able to boot up so I could uninstall it. I might try it again tonight since it looks like I might actually have a little free time for once.
