I am running MS Office 2007 with Outlook and am wondering what the Anti-Spam feature in PCTIS buys me (if anything)?

It seems to have similar settings as Outlook Anti-Spam.

It also does not show up in Outlook.

Should I just turn it off?

Does it work with other e-mail programs?

Under what conditions would one use the A-S of PCTIS?

Lots of questions (I am a courious guy).

Hi
I think the Spam Filter uses part of the firewall NDIS filter driver, or a LSP (layered service provider in the winsock2) to filter spam so it should be email program independant.
Support or Achen will have to confirm this as I am not 100% sure about this.

Independent sounds good. I have never liked Spam filters that adds icons and menu items to my e-mail program. But, on the other hand, without the icons and menu additions how is one to know if the Spam filter is working for that e-mail program?

Seems like I read somewhere that A-S works on e-mail programs like Outlook Express (which has no spam filter of its own) but there was no mention of Outlook itself. This is what led me to wondering if I should have A-S on or off with Outlook 2007.

Seems like having two A-S filters on could cause some unforeseen problems.

Spam Monitor runs in the background from your system tray automatically detecting spam email as it arrives in your Inbox. Using your local black-list, white-list and spam filter plug-ins, as well as publicly available black lists, Spam Monitor will detect and mark spam messages before they reach you.

So as I am using Outlook 2007, I assume the best thing is to turm A-S off :confused:

I have just confirmed this and the SM in PCTIS works differently to that of the SM standalone. Therefore, SM will work with Outlook 2007.

Thanks for the update, Anthony.

But, as I have my computer set up for 120 DPI, I cannot see all of the A-S setup screen as much of it is cut off by the borders.

When the 120 DPI problem is addressed I will take another look at this.

Thanks;
