Double Clicking on the Task Tray Icon does not open PCTIC as it should but rather puts another icon in the Task Bar causing the user to have to go an additional step of clicking on the Task Bar icon.

This is a totally unnecessary step simply to open the program and needs to be fixed in the next build.

Thanks;

Hi Doc,

I'm not really sure what you mean :confused: Could you provide more info?

If you minimize PCTIS, it will go to the system tray taskbar and to open up the PCTIS, you can double click on the system tray icon.

That is true ONLY after PCTIS is first double-clicked on the Task Try (right side by the clock) but is not true when first bringing PCTIS up after Windows boot up.

It goes like this
• Windows boot up.
• PCTIS icon in the Task Try (right side by the clock).
• Double click on icon (in Task Try).
• PCTIS window does not load but goes to another icon on the Task Bar (left side).
• Single click on the Taskbar icon to load PCTIS window.

This is not normal.

A double click on the Task Try icon should load the window without having to go through the extra step of creating an additional icon in the left Task Bar which has to also clicked.

Right clicking on the Task Try icon and selecting Open has the same problem.

There is no need for the extra icon being created in the Task Bar as one already exist in the Task Try and only creates extra work to get to the window.

DocLotus:
You ar too unpatient.
Yes, it seems to be starting a new icon on the task bar, but if You just leave it be and waits, the GUI comes up by itself when totally loaded. On my app it takes about 1,5 - 2 minutes.
If You click the task-bar icon, the GUI frame starts building on Your screen.
What I find more annoying is the task-bar drop-down menu allways appears on top of the PCTIS drop-down menue first time it is right-clicked after boot-up. Then I have to close it and re-click the sys-tray icon to get the PCTIS drop-down menu accessable.

Hi Reodor;

Your are right :o

I guess I was expecting it to load like all the hundreds of other apps that I have used over the years and not like cold molasses.

Why is it SOOOO slow :confused:

Mine isn't "sooo slow" but it does wait until my dsl connection is made with the computer which is usually only 10 or 15 seconds.:)

Now on the other hand, after installing it on a friend's computer I'm finding much the same problem. In this case it is more than just sooo slow, it freezes.

After the Windows desktop comes up the task bar icon comes up but it is ghosted. Clicking on it does nothing (it is still "starting"). If I click on another icon on the Windows screen the desktop freezes. The cursor is still functioning but none of the icons will respond. If I open up task manager and close the PCTIS icon it will then open normally with another task bar icon that is not ghosted.:confused:

Her computer was a bit slow opening SD w/antivirus and PCT firewall but it usually did open. Only occasionall was a restart needed. She is running XP by the way. Until this is fixed I think I'm going to have to go back to what she had before.

If ALL old security installations (SD,AV, FW ....) are not totally uninstalled and cleaned before installing the PCTIS, that is what You will experience. Just disable and leave on the comp is not good enough. Will even suggest a defrag before installation.

Only thing is after installing a competitor program to try out the problem went away. It started quickly and ran without any problem. This tells me PCT software is not getting along with her computer for some reason or reasons.:(
