I stripped even more out of my lap-top to eliminate whatever might be 'disturbing' PCTIS except McAfee Siteadvisor. That should atleast not inflict on anything at system idle, I thought.
But what is really happening every 5 second is a bit funny.
- McAfee siteadvisor reacts - pctsSvc.exe responds with about 20% CPU activity as a result of McAfee.
Turn 'OFF' file guard -it stops the CPU activity, SAService.exe is still activated every 5 sec.
This made me more curious and I went to my Yahoo mail.Does not normally use the lap-top there, but everytime Yahoo mail did an automatic check for new mails, pctsSvc peaked up at the most to 90+%, new mails or not - it almost blocked the system. Went off the net and opened a picture file and set it on slide-show. Same crazy behavior every time a new pic was loaded.
I think I have a moskito hunting elephant onboard. Is it really needed for fileguard to filter through every file in move that has not been changed whenever it is opened? This is where the major slowdown is when it comes to file opening and use even when the comp is off net.
Turn it 'off' manually whenever Im not at the net is not an option, opening the GUI is a timeconsuming operation by itself.
Perhaps a 'setting' in the siteguard with 'turn off automatically when IE/Firefox/... is not active' might be an option?

I like to play Mahjong Quest from Iwing.com from time to time and with SDV5 -AVG free there was no major problem, took some 30 sec to start. But with PCTIS installed, it will not even start unless I wait more than 1/2 hour ?(last test without starting). CPU running 100%, pctsSvc taking the most of it. Shut down PCTIS and it is up and running in less than 5 sec.

Hi Reodor,

We have released a new version of the PCTIS beta 3 - see http://www.pctools.com/forum/showthread.php?t=49408.

Could you please give this a go and see if you are experiencing the same issues. Also we advise not to run any security applications when running the PCTIS. However, we'll give PCTIS with Site Adviser a test and will investigate this further.

And will add a feature request regarding File Guard :)
