When I run Intel scanner, everything works well until it comes to "start up" scanner....it freezes when it is gathering info at 24%. What can I do to complete the scan. SD version is 5.1.0.272

Hi suits1346,

Could you please post a screenshot on where the scan freezes and I'll assist you further.

AChen...I was unable to get a screen shot of the problem. Not only does the scanner lockup but it also freezes my entire computer. When I use the intelli-can it goes through the normally until the startup scanner is inspecting startup items and freezes at 24%. I have to shut down the computer to get it working again....HELP.

When it freezes, can you write down the file it is freezing on? and if you could send us that file, that would really help.

When the startup scanner comes up it's 0%.....no files are scanned yet. It freezes when it loading up the inspection of the startup files at 24%. It looks something like this:

Scanning with the tool
Startup Scanner 0% done

Scanning entry
Inspecting Startup point 24%

Could you try running a scan in safemode to see if the freezing occurs?

Let us know how you go.

I ran Registry Mechanic and found two broken links in the deep scan...repaired it and now SD seems to work well. If the problem continues, I will get back to you. Thanks

The problem is back....the intel scan stops scanning when it somes to the startup scanner. As I stated before, it freezes at startup point 24%. The total process competed is 90% and nothing has been scanned using the Startup scanner. This problem started after I installed update 5.08430. Also it freezes my computer.

I did run the program in safe mode and it completed the scan. I have Spy Sweeper and McAfee installed on my computer. How should I trouble shoot this?

If they all run, You are sure to get problems. There have been previous issues with McAfee and SD that might not quite been solved.
Disable both Spy Sweeper and McAffe at start-up (best is to totally uninstall for test) then try again. At least take them off the start-up menue.

May I dare to suggest that You 'Beta test' the new suite to replace all the others? You may keep them non-running as back-up scanners.

If the scan works in safemode then it appears that something is conflicting with the file that is being checked during the scan. It would be really helpful if we could find out the file that it is freezing on. You could also try to disable Spy Sweeper and then running a scan and then disable McAfee to see if the problem occurs.

If You are haveing all those secuityapps running at the same time - no wonder!
One anti virus (AVG) and SD works to my experience. Disable the others when scanning.
But with all that seems to be on Your comp, suggest You do the scan in safe.mode and start cleaning!
To get a better picture of what is really 'bad' do a CCleaner run first which will take cookies and other harmless stuff off and leaves the really 'bad' ones.
Then check through controle panel: Installed programms and get rid of what You do not want.
