Can anyone tell me what is going on with the updates over this past week?
Each day after an update, thousands of signatures have been removed. In all I have lost 14,000 signatures in the space of 7 days but todays update is beginning to increase them again.
As of Tues 23.10.07, I have 637,152 signatures in database no. 5.08410 using version 5.1.0.272 and virus engine 4.3.11.
A week ago I had 650,600 signatures.

Thanks Chippa. I wish they would give us the information on their web page to stop any doubts. They give the program version number but no information about intelli signatures to tell us if the updates are working properly or not.
I have suggested it twice before but no one takes any notice other than one idiotic comment from PCtools to say that all you need to know is on the Status page of the program.

I have several times requested sucessful updates to be recorded in the history file but without result. It should be rather easy haveing it there with DB version, Time and date.

Hi Kentroup,
For updates on the latest signature database, see http://www.pctools.com/forum/showthread.php?t=49000. I update this daily :)
Reodor - I have added the Smart Update information on the history page as a feature request and will follow this up.

Hi Achen. The database version being shown is an improvement but what I would really find valuable is information showing how many intelli signatures should be in that database. I find myself always asking other people how many they have in an effort to ascertain if my program is updating properly.

If the DB version shows in the History, number of signatures will only be of academic interest as that keeps changing. The only thing of theoretical interest when it comes to intelli signatures is which 'malware' they intend to catch and that would be a looooong list. I do not think more should be added to burden the app, it is heavy enough as is.

You won't need to know how many signatures are in the database because if you have the correct database number from that sticky, then the database signatures is up to date. If you see the numbers go up during an update, then the Smart Updates is working. If you receive an error message saying something like "error while downloading the list of updates" you know theres something wrong or another app is blocking you from updating. Sometimes no updates are available and you will receive a message saying your current database is up to date.
