Hi

Test Rig Details:
P3 733MHZ
256MB RAM (4MB shared for video)
UDMA66 5400rpm HDD
XP-PRO SP2 (domain)
Thunderbird 2.0.0.6 (20070728) IMAP

IS Beta is good so far (it's day one :D), surprisingly little impact on system speed. But "Malicious Attachment" pops-up on nearly every message received. Screenshot message contains only link to HP support forum.

Hi
I have had a similar experience, but with outgoing mail. I deleted the text on a draft email that PCTIS said was clean and then got a pop-up very similar to PC-Pete.

Honestly I have difficulties in taking Your specs for real!
Running P4 1.8 and 256 RAM my Compaq did keep on 'starting the engine' for ever in SDV5, trying the same in the suite - it 'timed out'.! Reading Keith Warner's comments and experiences I find them closer to mine than what You describe.

Expanded Test Rig Details:
PC-CHIPS SIS630 single-chip m/board
Intel Pentium III 733MHZ (133mHz bus)
Western Digital 20GB UDMA66 5400rpm HDD
XP-PRO SP2 (domain)
256MB double-bank SDRAM (4MB shared for video)
Before installing PC Tools IS Beta I considered adding more RAM but didn't because the SIS630 memory controller is so lame that adding extra banks narrows the apparent bandwidth.

The biggest noticeable startup delay is adding about 20 seconds to the display of pale blue background before NT-Login dialog box appears, as well as taking slightly longer before XP is fully loaded. Last thing to happen is the PCTIS tray icon changes from grey to colour which usually takes only a couple of seconds but is sometimes slower.
Opening the GUI from the tray icon takes about 18 to 20 seconds.

I do have custom "Visual Effects" (see screenshot) and "Windows Classic style" to maximize performance. I have no other active security software and ran Registry Mechanic 4.0 prior to installation to get rid of any leftovers traces.

Nearly forgot -I'm not 3D gaming on this PC so no idea if that would be affected.

cheers,
Pete

Thanks for the added info that gave some explanation. Not quite an 'out of the box' comp and set-up.
As for Your error messages I got a feeling there is some 'conflict' going on between Thunderbird and PCTIS. Have You disabled all e-mail protection from the IS as this should be taken care of by Thunderbird?
Another thing might be the HP itself. I have had quite some problems during my years with HP software that keeps popping up when it should not, and is next to impossible to get rid of without formatting the disk. Any software (linked to hardware) with 'support' might cause this. Computer itself, printers ++++

Hi
I agree with Reodor. HP printer software/drivers are a pain in the a**. They try to add all kinds of startup entries and the likes (not that you need these programs on startup!).

HP Printer? This

refers to a link to HP Server support forum - but thanks for the suggestion.

I highly doubt 3d gaming would be possible with that rig considering today's game requirements.;)

Hi
My apologies, I got confused!:p

No need, mjq.
I have a HP 1400 scanner/printer that kept popping up HP help from time to time even when not hooked up. Uninstalled everything, I thought, downloaded and reinstalled complete new driver from HP, but problem kept on. Uninstalled, cleaned out with CCleaner, went in and checked: Found about 10 HP dll's that was left! Deleted them, reinstalled the new driver and problem was gone.

Now I have a similar Dell problem. One of my Dell's keeps popping up Dells help desk for some reason at random. Has to go and look for that problem as well!
