I just installed SD v5.1.0.272 on both my desktop and laptop, both running Vista-32. Now, whenever I do a system scan on either machine, SD hangs up while scanning "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data". It's almost as if SD gets into an infinite loop, because it lists the folder as "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Application Data\Application Data\Application Data\..." Also, the file count stops. Turning off heuristics scan doesn't help. On the desktop, SD eventually aborts the scan returns to normal operation. On the laptop, however, it hangs up, taking the OS with it, and I have to end up doing a hard boot to get the laptop back.

Hi Jhumur,
Just a suggestion. You may try to perform S. Doctor scanning in safe mode with networking. I had this problem as well. So, shut down your Spyware Doctor, restart your PC. when boots up, keep pressing F8 (if i am not wrong, LOL :p ). AFter that, choose safe mode with netwking. Wait until it loads in safe mode, and run your S. Doctor, then perform scanning. Try Intel scan 1st, and then full scan.
And I remember, according to one of the staff, he or she, said if you are using S. Doct with anti virus, try to disable the anti virus plug in. and then, perform scanning. (i think, run Spyware Doctor, go to setting, click anti virus and un-check the anti virus plugin)
Hopefully it helps...
If not, then, hopefully moderator can help... GOODLUCK :D

Thanks, greenzeto, I'll try your suggestion. Hope this won't be the permanent solution though. Since my original post, I have discovered that SD will hang up at three different places:
C:/Documents and Settings/All Users/Application Date/
C:/ProgramData/Application Data/
C:/Users/All Users/Application Data/
If I do a custom scan with those three folders unchecked, then there is no problem. But, that too can't be a perm solution since that would mean leaving the door wide open.

Hi jhumur
I seem to be having the same problem on my Vista install, but everything
works OK on my XP install. Have removed 5.1.0.272 and reinstalled 5.0.5.259
which works fine.
