Smart Update completes, prompts for reboot to finish update.

After reboot, system is locked in a nonstop BSOD+reboot cycle. Might be graphics driver-related, as the OS flickers briefly from Luna to the default visual style before the system BSODs and automatically restarts.

WinXP SP2 Pro, 384MB RAM, Centrino 1.66GHz, ThreatFire.

Hi
No offence intended solcroft, but I think you need more RAM! PCTIS is quite resource hungry (similar to SD)

I know. It's a test machine (I'm not stupid enough to install a PC Tools beta on my main system, especially one based so heavily on SD :D). This problem was absent before the Smart Update.

Hmmmm, interesting. I have had 2 smart updates so far, no restarts required for either of them, they were both firewall rules I think.
I agree it is very heavily based on SD, but it still looks good!

I woke up this morning, kicked on a fresh image restore and tried again, with the same results.

Perhaps it IS a RAM problem; however the problem does not exist until after I elect to reboot after the Smart Update, and the suite chugs along relatively fine before that.

Hi Solcroft,

Could you try booting in safemode and check if you're memory dump logging is on. If so could you please send us this log, this will help us to investigate this further.

Restored image again, reinstalled the suite, and for some confounded reason the BSODs aren't happening now.

Will send the memory dumps as soon as it happens again.

If the BSOD's occur, it would be very helpful if you could send us the minidumps :)
