Hi
I'm wondering how this works. When I try to install it the installer says it's only compatible with Spyware Doctor (w/ Antivirus) 5.0.1 (please see the screenshot). There is virtually no information on the homepage about it and it doesn't really seem to be related to Spyware Doctor, especially a version that old!

Hi mjq424,

This shouldn't be happening, but it looks like there is an issue with the installer. We'll have this fixed up shortly.

Hi
I have now installed Patch Scanner! :) It works, and could be quite useful.
The install is a little weird, in that there are no shortcuts created anywhere. I have to say that I am currently using PCTIS beta, so I'm not sure if there is meant to be a "Tools" button or anything.

Hi
Patch Scanner does now install regardless of whether you have Spyware Doctor/Internet Security installed so you can test it.
Hope that helps

Hi
OK I agree with you. Those are the correct version numbers. I think it may be necessary to have Spyware Doctor or Internet Security installed :(

Hi
Are you using the most up-to-date version? The latest build is 5.1.0.272.
To check which build you are using, open the main user interface and click Help in the top right corner, then click About.

Had to open up the C: drive and go into the PCTools folder to find it. I created a shortcut from there by right clicking, choosing the shortcut option and then dragging the shortcut to the desktop. It does find missing Windows updates but that's all I've seen so far. There are a couple of programs out there that claim to find updates for drivers and program patches but usually don't work well. It would be nice to have one that does.

Hi
There is such a program. Released by Secunia, called the Personal Software Inspector. It can be found here (https://psi.secunia.com/)

Hi

Interesting but it only checks, at least from what it says on the site, for updates to security programs. Also, it isn't listed as supporting Vista.:o

Hi
It does work on Vista, if you check the changelog it mentions Vista installation fix. It checks for lots of programs (see attached pic)

Hi
Do you want a picture of the Secunia Personal Inspector or the PC Tools Patch Scanner?
