Update couldn't be applied

After running Threatfire for some time i checked for an update via the built-in SmartUpdatefunktion. It found an update and downloaded it sucessfull. After the download it came a window with the following text:

"A new ThreatFire update has been downloaded and is ready to be installed. Would you like to install the update now?"

Three buttons are beneath - Yes, No and after a few seconds "cancel" is shown.

Now only the cancel-button can be pushed. The other two show no action. So i'm not able to apply this update.

I'm running ThreatFire under Vista Ultimate 32bit together with the nonbeta-version of PCTools Firewall Plus.

This could be an issue with UAC, not sure though. Took me 2 attempts to get the updates.
Can you try again please and get a screenshot of what the install window looks like?

I know of this problem.

You can either:
remove the contents of C:\Documents and Settings\"login name"\Local Settings\Temp\TFStage then try the update again.

Or

hit the "Y" button on your keyboard, this should ... work.


It was a hit an miss here, but I think this has been solved going on into the future.

No one of the two possible solutions shown from djames worked for me. After hitting y-key the messagewindow disapeard, but nothing special happend. When i deleted the content of the temporary tfstage-folder for the updateprocess and run smartupdate again after that i could say that the update should be aplied afte the download. Also no message was shown that the update was sucessfully applied - i dont know if it has to be normaly. But when i run smartupdate again the same message is shown as stated in my first post...

There are 3 updates now. The end version number should be 3.0.4

The update window is not animated yet, so it does not show that the update has worked, or installed. It will restart ThreatFire, and you should see the version number.

I'm having the same problem. The window just hangs and the update is not installed. I also tried the solutions listed above with no results.

Either you will be updated automatically (if you have auto updates on) and will see the updates after around 12 hrs, or you can click "Smart Update" for each update.

3.0.2 will not show a different version number, because we only updated the TFUD and TFUN.

I am using smartupdate and it continues to just hang until I close the window.

It was the small window saying "an update has been downloaded and is ready to be installed." But it's working all of a sudden. I now have version 3.0.4.

Can you please try the following:
Please download the latest version from here (http://www.threatfire.com/download/tfinstall.exe) and then uninstall the version you have currently
Make sure you restart your pc after uninstalling and then delete any folders left behind
Reinstall using the new version downloaded.

Things are getting strange...

After i uninstalled ThreadFire with the checked option to delete the settings and logfiles completly, i made the recomended reboot and deleted the temporary folder left from the last try with smartupdate i made a second reboot. Now i installed the newly downloaded ThreadFire from the linked location (it had the same size and same date as my previosly downloaded version) and made a third reboot. But now the comlete Programm doesn't run. If i start it manualy from its folder the vista-cursor makes his rounds a few times and nothing happens.

We re-created what you are seeing Aha100. And the Dev are creating a fix for it. Won't be for a few days (next week).

Did you download the 3.0.4 version on the website? And this did not start for you either?

Yesterday (here in Germany we have now the first of september) i downloaded the version from the homepage stated there as 3.0.0.15 - here is the screenshot from the downloadpage:
