Hello

A small bug, but it is there. When i try to run Vista backup, it cannot complete, when ThreatFire is active  . When i suspend ThreatFire, it runs again.

Vista home premium.

Edit: Just checked. I disabled LUA yesterday, and now the backup runs fine, without suspending ThreatFire  .

I won't discount it being a problem.
Are you running vista on a notepad/laptop ?

Thanks. I might be seeing something related, hence my question. I will look into this.

We had one fix done on this, can you try and see if it works. I can make backups on all the vista boxes we have here, including notepads.

Just updated TF. Enabled UAC. Backup is running now :)

Sorry to say, but the problem is back  . Again, i need to suspend TF, or the backup fails. It happens with or without UAC enabled.

Understood. I cannot reproduce this one at this time. I will keep trying. We have not had any updates since you tried successfully.

Could it be a Vista problem ? This OS is doing some strange things sometimes. Yesterday, i installed a small reminder application. Today, a few ours ago, i disabled UAC. When i rebooted, the reminders settings were reset, and the welcome screen, who only appears once, after the installation, appeared again. So maybe Vista also "resets" something in TS ?

Hi Check,

Could you look at TF's main console, and click on the Settings button on the right hand side?

Click on the Quarantine Tab, and see if the "Set System Restore Point" is able to be checked or not?

Im using v3.10.0 on Vista Business and also having issues with automatic backups. Is there a switch or command that can be used for TF to put it into suspend mode (via windows task scheduler)?

Not yet, but a good one to put in the wish list.

Thanks

I just downloaded and installed this great program, but I have run into the same problem as everyone else.
I use Vista Home Premium and it won't let me complete an automatic backup. I am using an HP laptop.

We will have a fix for this in the next update, in the mean time you should be able to suspend TF and perform your backup.

If this still happens with v3.0.12.6 when the update goes out, let me know.

If anyone still has this problem, let me know, the latest build should take care of this issue, but maybe not for everyone.

3.0.12.6 and sadly the problem still exists :(

The problem still exists here too :(. But sometimes it completes, without having to disable TF.

Is it possible that in between TF updates, Windows Backup is attempting to shadow copy the 'new files' and TF is blocking the backup from accessing those files as part of its self protection mechanism?

If thats the case, TF would need to recognize sdclt.exe & vssvc.exe as known safe processes and associated behaviors.

Maybe a prompt "Windows Backup is Attempting to run" with options to allow and "Remember this answer". That might solve the issue. But I dont know how hard it would be to implement it.
