View Full Version : OnGuard issues
Hello, when i turn OnGuard Protection on, my PC starts to be very very slow, it takes about 5 seconds to open a folder, and every day tasks such as checking my email because quite a biggie.
Is there some way to fix this PC lag, if so, how.
If there isn't a way, will it be fixed in later versions.
I have Spyware Doctor with the AV Plugin v5.
Thanks.

Hi vpc,
Welcome.
Could we get some more information from you:
What Operating System are you using?
How much RAM do you have?
What other security programs are you running?
I'm running Windows XP
I Have 1.2 gigs of RAM
I also have Kaspersky Internet Security on.
Strange thing is tho, Kaspersky protection runs perfectly smooth, and so does BitDefenders, and even before i installed Kaspersky Spyware Doctor was making things very slow for me.

Thanks.with the AV plugin you are now effectiavly running 2 antiviruses
that should NEVER be done
you can disable the AV component of SD from within settings->antivirus
if you are running bitdefender you should disable it's realtime components

Tom is right,NEVER use 2 Antivirus program since it ALWAYS generate conflicts
hope this helps
Guys, i have it off, but the very reason i got Kaspersky is because this issue with OnGuard, EVEN BEFORE i had Kaspersky, it still made my PC, my question isn't which i should use, because Kaspersky is very temporary, my question is, is there a way to fix the problem with OnGuard, or if there are any plans to fix it in the near future.

Hi
I believe that the only reason you are having these problems is because you are running 2 AV programs at the same time. If you like Spyware Doctor but also like Kaspersky, you can send a Private Message to either Support or AChen and they will have the AV plugin removed from your license.
Otherwise please uninstall Kaspersky or at leaset disable it because running multiple AV programs can causes crashes and BLUE SCREENS OF DEATH

Wait.
vpc, are you saying that you were having an issue with Onguard before you even installed Kaspersky. Are you sure?
mjq424, I've already said i had it BEFORE i installed Kaspersky.
BenJr, yes, I'm sure, this issue is the reason why i got Kaspersky.

My apologies for misreading your post!
Have you tried switching off OnGuard and then switching on each Guard in turn to identify which one is responsible?
Do you use the SiteGuard and EmailGuard addons?

could you try desabling onguard and see if that helps
BD came into play because I'm showing the problem is isolated to SD OnGuard, I've had BD and it didn't lag my PC, i have Kaspersky and it doesn't lag my PC.
And the post says it on it's own, my PC lags ONLY when OnGuard is on, not when it's off, i think I said that in some shape or form. :p
And i don't have any addons to SD.

Disable the AV plugin and see if this resolves the problem.
See from the sticky below:
If you switched on AV and you want to switch it off and go back to Spyware Doctor only, use this link and enter your license code: http://www.pctools.com/spyware-doctor/manageplugin/
Uncheck the AV upgrade then reinstall the SD only package and the AV files will not be downloaded.
Spyware Doctor only is available from:
http://www.pctools.com/spyware-doctor/download/
This will download:
http://www.pctools.com/downloads/sdsetup.exe
