Hi

Resently I have bought Desktop Mechanic in the hope that I could get rid of the annoying Expire pop-up on Registry Mechanic.

The pop-up left, allright. I then wanted to try the 'Clean your computer'.
Result: Data was removed from my internet adress bar and history (not the framesize, just the data). Ok this could be a default setting.
Setup of 'Clean your computer' was viewed and IE (browser used) was unchecked. In the third party area some installed programs was noted as 'not installed'.
Ok 'not installed' should not be cleaned. Big was the supprise as internet history was cleaned with only some 'not installed' checkmarked in third party area.
Even when unmarking afterwards cleaning still takes place.

This is from Technical support said to be only one instance. Do anyone have any good ideas?

Currently I'm running a danish Windows XP home with IE 7 on my PC.
Have other XP versions as well, but hesitate to uninstall and reinstall before I know what to look for.

Regards
Hugo

Hi Hugo,

DM will not remove the expiry notice from RM, only a renewal will remove this notice. However, you do not need to have RM installed if you are currently running DM as DM includes both Privacy Guardian and Registry Mechanic.

During the clean, was the checkbox unticked for IE? or is the IE internet history still cleared even if IE is unchecked?

If DM is still cleaning the IE internet history even though IE is unchecked, could you please send a copy of your log files and we'll analyze this further.

ad 1. I know DM is not removing expire notice, but hope that DM does have a way to stop its own expire notice, when reneveal is NOT wanted.

ad 2. Yes Checkbox is unticked for IE (Firefox and all other applications) in browsers. Cleaning still takes place.

ad 3. I would gladly send 'log files', but I need to know exactly which, where to find them and under which condition.

The speciallity of the problem is that:
When starting with RM (repairing all errors), chechbox for browser and third party unticked. No cleaning of adress and histori takes place. Applications like Norton. Ad-aware are still marked as 'not installed' even though they are installed and runnng.

After this I start ticking the chechboxes of 'not installed' programs in third party section. Suddenly cleaning of adress bar and history takes place. ( IE are still unticked in browser area). Then I remove ticks, even all in third party area, but cleaning still takes place.

With a new run of RM (Registry repair) cleaning stops.

So which logfile will tell the wrong doing?

Kind regards
Hugo

Ps. Pls do not tell not to do the unticking. All 'not installed' programs are ticked by default by DM so a change will be called for.

Once DM expires, you will receive a notification about the expiry.

For the Log files, please go to: C:\Documents and Settings\achen\Application Data\Desktop Mechanic\log and send all the logs in this folder. Please see your PM as I have sent my email address.

If you have any problems, please let me know.
