View Full Version : Cyberhawk conflicts with Opera

It is not the browsing itself which poses a problem -with CH switched on, browsing with Opera works perfectly well- , but it is the preference setting in Opera. Try this:

With CH on, in Opera go to Tools > Preferences > Advancad tab > Browsing. Change 'Redraw after 1 second' to 'Redraw instantly', and check Show Window Menu.
Close and restart Opera. You'll notice that these preferences are set back to the default values!

Now do exactly the same with Cyberhawk switched off ('suspend' from the rightclick menu in the systray). The changes ARE retained.

Is this intended by novatrix, or is it a conflict?

Are you using the latest version of Opera?
I have not tried on older versions, but I cannot reproduce this on XP.

Yes, I am. Opera 9.22 build 8801. It is on XP, also the latest pack and updates.
I've just tried it again to double-check and the same behavior: with CH on, setting changes are not retained -- with CH off, they are.

Thanks, I will attempt to recreate.

I was wondering if you have been able to reproduce the problem?

At my end, the problem persists. Just now, I tried to change the setting : Tools > Preferences > Advanced > Tabs > Click to minimize. I had to switch Cyberhawk off in order to 'keep' this Opera setting change as I wanted it. With CH on, the setting was set back to its previous value when closing and re-opening Opera.

No I was not able to. I copied what you wrote down, and I could not repeat this.

I have not given up though, just a bit pushed for time to investigate it.

I tried it out on a completely different computer. That system is also XP (latest pack & updates), and also has CH and Opera.

The same problem occurs. That is to say, a variant of the same problem. This time it is impossible to change Opera's address toolbar while CH is on. Right-click on a button in the address toolbar, choose 'Remove from toolbar', close Opera, open it again, and you'll notice (at least I do) that the button is back.

Do the same with CH suspended and it works fine.

I just downloaded and installed TF beta. I just reproduced, in TF, all the earlier problems I mentioned earlier with regard to CH conflicting with Opera (or the other way around, if you wish) and they do not occur anymore. Neither in the Free nor in the Pro version.

Great work. Thanks

Good to hear. Thanks for trying it out on ThreatFire.
