I very recently installed Cyberhawk on my XP Pro, SP 2 machine. It appears that CHService is always busy in the background. It seems to take up about 3-5% CPU and its memory varies from about 4-7 MB. I am not allowed to kill its process. When I go to Services, I am also not allowed to Stop it or perform any other actions. I am logged in as Administrator. Perhaps the constant activity prevents any changes -- but it never seems to stop. Is there any way other than uninstalling to deal with this? Thanks in advance for any info.

CHService.exe is monitoring your system all the time, hence the CPU usage. You are not able to kill the process because we have hardened somewhat the process against malware being able to kill processes.
You can suspend Cyberhawk by right clicking on the tray icon and choosing "Suspend". This should quieten CH down a little.

Even when I suspend it by using the tray icon, CHService still operates in the background -- although it is quieter. What does suspend really do? But I guess I am really wondering about why such a high level of constant activity - even when there appears to be nothing to monitor, as best as I can tell. My network may be pinging, but that would be it. Thanks for any further info.

It's possible there is another program running that is active in the background and Cyberhawk is monitoring its activity. We've seen this occur with PerfectDisk and DisKeeper. Are you running either one of these apps or a similar disk maintenance app?

What other processes are busy as well other than "System Idle Process"?

I do have PerfectDisk. Generally, when CHService is active, I see only explorer.exe and firefox.exe being active as well. CHService has quieted down somewhat and then seems to have sustained bursts of activity. I am not sure what else, if anything, is active during those periods.

Yup, that would explain that to me anyway. When any process is active, CH will monitor it for suspicious behavior.
