I keep getting disconnected from the internet. At first I thought that it was my ISP, but it is happening with several different ISP's. I have gone into the connection settings, and made sure that it is not a disconnection due to idleness.
It seems that data stops being transfered about 30 seconds prior to disconnecting.
Does anyone have any ideas as to what could be causing this?
Thanks
See if there is a new up-dated driver for your modem. check out the modem makers home page.

My Computer Networking is not all that well,
but this Disconnection happenends to me to.
I heard it is some where on the websites servers , has nothing to do with your computer.Just pay close attention to some of the websites, and that might be your problem.

Noise on you phone line can cause these problems. If the line has static on it, some modems will reduce speed to maintain the connection. If noise is still detected the modem will continue to reduce speed and eventually close the connection or freeze the session. Plug a phone into the phone jack on your modem and listen to the line when you modem/system is powered on, but not connected. Another symptom of noisy phone line is slow connection speeds.

Check your system resources percentage level, it may get too low, because too many programs running at same time. Look for this under "System Information."
As for phone line noise, you can get a noise filter to hook between your modem and wall jack connections -- I have one and it helps.
There can be other reasons -- go to winmag.com to search for possible solutions.

Also check that you don't have call waiting on your phone line. If it's a shared connection it will disconnect everytime someone tries to ring in.

Go to Modems in Control Panel (Start > Settings > Control Panel)
From Modems select Properties, then the Connection tab
Click the Advanced button
In the Extra settings dialogue line, enter S10=50
This will force the modem to stay connected without a carrier for up to 5 seconds.
