Hi,
I'm currently using Spyware Doctor version 5, and I have some problems with the updates, so I would like to download the Spyware Doctor, version 4 instead , because I didn't have any problem at all. But I would like to know if there is any differences between the version 5 and the version 4 about the database and the efficacity of each other?

Thanks

Hi
About the differences between the builds, please note v5 are completely differnt form v4 *as v5 have new guards and some features you wont find in v4
but v5 is NOT (So bad) free of problems..if you think v4 works better in your comp, i am sure it can give you efective protection
hope this helps

The only difference I see between V4 and V5 is V5 has the antivirus with it. With V4 the pop up blocker alerts you when pop ups are blockd in V5 this does not happen you have to go to history and see this. I have not seen any new guards in V5 verses V4. Unless your talking about email guard which does not work on my computer.

That is a statement I would like to see proved!

After reformatting and reinstalling Windows a couple months ago I swore I wouldn't put Spyware Doctor back on my machine. Then curiosity got the best of me and I reinstalled SD 4.0. So far so good, how about 4.1? Installed it and it works good, as long as I stick to Firefox (which Version 4 doesn't cover). As soon as I switch to Infernal Exploder it blocks my homepage, and the WHITELIST DOESN'T WORK!
So much for Spyware Doctor. I'll keep it (disabled) as a good scanner 'til my sub ends in September.

Funny , I use both Firefox and CAN use Infernal Exploder if I so choose. but I only use IE for things that require it such as Windows updates and all that. But have no problem with either browser or Thunderbird and V4.1
I have no answers for you but thought you might like to know that it can work just don't ask me how.
Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Thanks for reply, Rich. I mostly use IE for M$ucks updates and other IE-only sites, but my homepage's ( www.my.myway.com ) Tech Talk link does not support forum code / Rich Text Format in Firefox. I realize SD may flag MyWay as malware because it is owned by IAC Search Media, the same fine folks that bring us Smiley Central and other FunWebSpyware products.

BUT THE WHITELIST DOESN'T WORK!

Hey Keith, the issue with the Domain Whitelist is a known issue with SDv4.1 and is currently being investigated.

Hi,

I don't think Funweb products are in SD Infection Database. I was infected with it before and it was only detected and deleted using another antispyware software.

and for the database, does version 4.1 have less malwares signatures than version 5?

thanks

Jeffre - if the SD cannot remove any infections, you can send a malware log to PC Tools and they will add it to their signature database. This normally takes a few days, depending on the infection.

Gbytes -SDv 4 and v5 use the same signature database. Either versions will remove the same infections :)

Cheers,
Chippa
