My users have a login script that runs when they login. They have like 3 mappings. By the end of the day they have almost 15 mappings of the path that automatically happen. what causes the computer to map network drives by its self?

Hi,
if you use W2K, maybe this reg Key fixes your problem:
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Pol icies\Explorer
name: NoRecentDocsNetHood
value:1
Description
Remote shared folders are not added to My Network Places when you open a document in the shared folder.
This entry stores the setting of the Do not add shares from recently opened documents to the My Network Places folder Group Policy. Group Policy adds this entry to the registry with a value of 1 when you enable the policy. If you disable the policy or set it to Not configured, Group Policy deletes the entry from the registry and the system behaves as though the value is 0.
Value Meaning
0 (or not in registry) The policy is disabled or not configured. When you open a document in a remote shared folder, the system adds a connection to the shared folder to My Network Places.
1 The policy is enabled. Shared folders are not added to My Network Places automatically when you open a document in the shared folder.
regards
Karin
