View Full Version : Help, keyboard disappeared after uninstall of Cyberhawk

Hi,

I used Cyberhawk for a few weeks. The behavior blocking functions worked really well and delivered good warnings. But I had to uninstall it due to the amount of CPU resources Cyberhawk was using. It really slowed down many applications, so as be intolerable.

The uninstall process did not complete fully, because it complained, that it could not shut down the Cyberhawk service.

After restarting I cannot login to Windows XP any more, because no keypresses are recognized on the Welcome/Login screen. All my accounts are password protected. (The keyboard is physically fine, as I can login to a Vista partition on the same computer.)

The usual troubleshooting routines do not work. 'Last known good configuration' and Safe Mode did not help. A system restore is not possible without logging in to safe mode.

Please help!

Thanks James for your quick reply.

I was able to do a repair by manually copying back the registry files from a previous restore point folder (using a method similar to one described in Section 3b of this article (http://forums.pcper.com/showthread.php?t=384102) by accessing XP from Vista). I was able to login and do a proper System Restore to a point prior to the problem.

Apparently the driver file itself did not disappear, just the reference to it from the registry. Maybe this has something to do with the keylogger interception, that is part of Cyberhawk?

That would seem to be the problem. Although it is really the first time we have heard of it with XP.

I am looking into this, as this is a major pain to have happen.

Thanks
