When I logon to W2K Professional with my administrator ID, the "start windows" and "exit windows" sounds don't play, although I hear them when I logon with different userids, and other sounds play while logged on as the administrator.

Please advise if you know how to fix this problem.

Thanks,

sounds are configurable by user, so login with the "quiet" Admin account, go ControlPanel > Sounds.
First look in the drop down below to see if the sound scheme has not been set to "no sound". Else select nothing (white combo box) or a predefines scheme.
Then check the event list for Startup / Shutdown sounds (need checkbox marked).

Thanks Richard. I neglected to mention in the original append that when I log on as Administrator, the sound events for "system startup" and "system exit" have the correct WAV files listed. I can play them from the "Sounds" window, but they still don't work when I logon or shutdown. Please let me know if you have any advice. Thanks again.
