downloaded the most recent version of PG and it still does not erase the content of the recycle bin. Given that, I am hesitant to scrub the machine for reasons of compatiblity. I wiped out my installation of vista once berfore with this program and really don't care to do that again. Please advise

I'm using it with Vista, and while it doesn't wipe the Recycle Bin, it does shred files from the explorer context menu and it doesn't seem to break anything else in Vista.

In the "Windows" section I have everything selected except Temp Files.

The only other problem (besides the Recycle Bin problem) I've found is that when I use it to clean Firefox, it deletes my toolbar settings because that is grouped into the "Cache, History, Address Bar" settings, I guess. It's no big deal, though.

I've been using PG with Vista and it has been cleaning out the Recycle Bin with no problems. After running PG the "Bin" is empty.:)

Hi all,

I've been running PG (registered) on my XP for about 2 years with no problems. Recently I bought a new laptop and have been stuck with vista home premium. PG has worked fine on vista up until about 2 days ago. Now when I start the program I get an error window telling me that "Privacy Utility has stopped working". Screen shot at the link below. Any ideas?

That happend to me once before. I uninstalled and reinstalled the most recent version of PG. Additionally I did a reg clean and removed the program directory and any/all references (anywhere on the machine) to PG prior to the reinstall. I have not had anymore problems. Be sure to check your virtual store, temp directories, recycle bin and prefetch in vista. Clean those before the Reg clean. Be careful and good luck. I am running Vista Ultimate.

Thanks for the advice, though the tasks you mention are beyond my skill level. I'll I have a go... I have a recovery disk, right?
