Thanks to the PCTools Team for this latest Version.

Running with no problems very pleased I can now stop using version 4.1.

SD Version 5.0.0.185 works well with AOL, Norton Firewall 2006, Norton AV 2007, Foxit PDF Reader, Eagle Cad 4.1, Xilina ISE 8.2, UltraEdit 13a, and Flock Web browser.

The intel scan is fast. The full scan take a short while but then its scanning 6 harddrives that are 320 gig each.

thanks guys.

Support: If you can put the spin aside for a while, can you guarantee that all aspects of 5.0.0185 are now safe and that users are no longer running the risks associated with beta testing ?

This will be a difficult question to answer, because it depends on the problems you were having before. From the feedback on this forum, it seems that the latest version is by far the best one yet and I can also add to this. Its much faster then previous versions. Only way to know is to give it a go.

I also want to offer you kudos on the new version (now 186 as of today). Starting with 185 I re-enabled on-guard protection with no appreciable slowdown, and all is running well with all my installed software, firewall, etc. Also re-enabled standby on my laptop with v185 and all is well there too. Running WinXP-Home-SP2 on both machines, both P4 based.

Much appreciation for staying with product improvements and trying to satisy the masses.

Well guys I am glad that after almost two months since the launch of the beta SD 5.0.169 to the unsuspecting public. And after weeks of almost endless new versions, perhaps now PC Tools are starting to get things right. But the majority of this beta testing by us joe public. Should have been done before SD5 was launched in the first place its that simple.

Sorry to report that I am still having problems with v5.0.0.186

Processor runs at up to 99% just clicking on links in IE7 amd Firefox 2.0.0.3

No problems when disabling OnGuard.

Whilst I'm sincerely glad to hear that some members are benefiting at last from v5.0.0.185/6, I have to say that I am still reluctant to go back to any v5 yet. As I have mentioned on another thread here, I have just had to have a clean install of XP on my just over a year old machine, and can't honestly say that SD v5 can be exluded from the potential reasons my PC went AWOL. Certainly the failing integrity of Windows was initiated after I installed the first two versions.

I'm keepng my eye out though on this forum for continued good and safe news.;)

I have similar cases happened before when I am using v5.0.0.186

It's probably because of one of the OnGuard tools that caused this problem.

You may need to isolate the problem tool specific to your PC. You can turn off all the OnGuard tools, then just turn all of the Tools back to ON one at a time. That is what PC Tools told me to do.

Have a try!

Well, more and more issues are being fixed with each update, and v5 has come a long way since being released. That said, if you have no compelling reason to install v5, then I would still wait it out for a bit longer, just to be safe. I assume you have v4.1 or another good antispyware app installed; if so, stick with that for now. Like you said, keep monitoring this forum; eventually, you will feel safe to reinstall v5.

You could ask that question of every software company out there!! No software developer can assure that their product is problem free for every user.

Everything is working fine here with 186. Don't forget the 'Never Run' matter...
