Smart Update Problem

I am running Spyware Doctor 5, last night did a smart update. I am got an error message saying Starting. Did this for a while then corrected it self. It was weird, did not go to the normal page, was not able to scan or do anything, just tried to re start it self.

I have used Spyware Doctor since October 2004. I have noticed since version 5 the Smart Updates seem to get less in file size ie a in KB versus the larger size MB. Why is this? I know the original version 5 had some issues, some got resolved. I think it scans too slow ie 1-2 hours. Gets stuck sometimes on 20% during a scan.

But I still think this software is good better than some that are out on the market. What I would like to see is a newer version of Registry Mechanic 6 ie version 6.2 or a 6.4 both products keep my PC running.

Thanks for this software since I trust it compared to others I used in the past.

The reason for small updates is that now, incremental updates are used, instead of just sending over the entire database. This makes it easier for users on dial-up!
Is it always freezing on 20% at scan? Would it be possible to post a screenshot?
