Hi
This is probably related to SDTrayApp.exe. If this isnt running there is no icon in the tray.
Please add this to the allow list in Antivir.
If it isnt present in the Spyware Doctor folder, try reinstalling. If it still doesnt appear at startup, add SDTrayApp.exe to your startup folder.

Hi All,

i uninstalled(again)reinstalled and rebooted no icon, put sdtrarapp.exe in startup folder and rebooted a box popped up saying sdtrayapp.exe unable to locate failed to start because rtl100.bpl was not found,i clicked start-run typed it in and said could not locate sdtrayapp.exe?

hyatt69, could you please confirm the following:

1. Is SDTrayApp.exe running in the task manager?

2. If SDTrayApp.exe is running but without the SD icon, we need to investigate as to why it is not there.

3. If SDTrayApp.exe is not running, could you check:
a) Whether SDTrayApp.exe exists in install folder?
b) Whether SDTrayApp.exe list is under registry HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Run or HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Run
c) If it is not listed under those registry key, you can add one or create a SDTrayApp.exe shortcut in the startup folder instead of copying it to startup folder.

Could you please launch SD manually, go to the install folder and double click the SDTrayApp.exe and check if the icon is displayed.

Also have you installed any software recently? Some applications may block unrecognized startup programs.

Hi
rtl100.bpl should be installed with Spyware Doctor. It could be that your AntiVirus or firewall is blocking this. Please try shutting them both down (along with any other security software) and reinstalling Spyware Doctor.

From the info, it looks like another app is blocking SD tray app from starting up during windows start-up.

Several sub-releases ago of Spyware Doctor 5 on my laptop, I did a Smart Update which tried to install a new release, but when I did another Smart Update, it tried to update the same modules again. I went through several iterations of this, then decided to check Zone Alarm 7's quarantine area, and sure enough, it was killing the SD Smart Update modules. Of course, I simply disabled the anti-virus while doing a Smart Update. For some reason, the problem never recurred.

i tried to copy and paste the log from hijack this but it says its too long to post in the forum?
