Since I just paid the money to get Spyware Doctor 5 and I'm having the same troubles as everyone else it seems (swdsvc.exe is taking up 100% memory useage and everything is at a crawl), I see the recomendation is to go back to sd4.1. I haven't ever used that one but I see you have to uninstall sd5 in order to go with the sd4. So what's the scoop, am I out the money on sd5 that I can't use?? Does this mean a purchase price on sd4.1?

Hi
You can still use version 4.1 even if you paid for version 5.

It also uses the same database version as version 5.

To download 4.1 visit: http://www.pctools.com/spyware-doctor/version4/

I understand that if you bought it directly from Pctools you can get a refund if you ask for that within 30 days of the purchase. I wish I had that option !

I may end up going this route if my lockups w/ SD 5 don't go away (and I can be sure I won't get a BSOD w/ SD 4.1 + Zone Alarm 7).

In any case, does anyone have the directions on how to perform this "downgrade" (for lack of a better term)? Is it just a complete uninstall of SD 5 followed by a reinstall of 4.1? Anything else have to be done? I assume I will lose all my settings (schedules, white list, etc.)? Any way to avoid that?

Thanks!

I just uninstalled sd 5 and then downloaded sd 4.1. Have not had any problems, computer is back to proper speed and hibernation works like it should.

But doesn't the SD 4.1 have a cost then?? Or is that a free version?

Hi
As you already have a license it doesnt matter what version you use. The license is valid for all versions past, present and future.
Hope that helps
