Does anyone know how I can remove the programs-folder, and if I can do this with a reg???

Also I wonder if I can stop the Explorer from "spawning" in to Iexplore when a URL is typed in the AddressBar.

Please study the Registry Guide and J recommend to search the Registry Discussion rather than Win2K Security.

I Think this is a security problem, because users can dubble click on the "program" folder in the start menu and the explorer start's even thoug they don't have the permissions to run explorer.exe, and to top it all if you type in an URL in the Address bar then Explorer.exe spawn's into Iexplore.exe . This means that users that sould not have the permission to use the intranett/extranett can do so.

(1) ok J see why you have posted here, but while J canot give you the answer, you probably will get more help from the Registry Discussion users.

(2) as for your users opening the start>program menu by double-clicking: in this case you have the policy established, but why don't you carry configuration one step further and clean out the start>programs menu for these users (especially the explorer icon).

(3) the possibility to start IE for internet access remains anyhow a problem, cause nowadays you get so many documents to be kept on disk but viewed by IE locally. So there is the difficulty to stop users going on the net. Probable solution would be firewall software (either per company or per user workstation) to block unauthorized outgoing connections.

I'm not sure what that was for, but I love the fact you felt it had to be thrown in nearly four months after the last post. /images/forums/icons/smile.gif

Feel sorry for him?? /images/forums/icons/laugh.gif Good grief.....he probably chose not to repost in the registry section. I'm sure he got it resolved somehow. Anyway, it didn't look too serious.
