hi,
for some time now i have been trying to decide on which antispyware to try(for free) and after much thought and thourough research i have narrowed down my choices to Spyware Terminator or Spyware Doctor.
I have browsed through these forums and am not entirely convinced on wheter or not i should try spyware doctor. i also have several questions regarding the program.
1. First, is there any actual way to find out if its going to slow down your computer? (Mine has a 1.6ghz, 512ram)Or do the results vary depending on the computer, software installed, etc...
2. Ive searched the forums for this but haven't really found an answers. My question is, is the current version of spyware doctor v5 compatible with the latest version of avast 4.7 pro edition?or will it cause some lag?
3. This is meant a bit more towards the developers. After looking through the problem/solutions list on the sticky, i noticed that there are still several problems that have yet to be resolved. My question is, will those problems be fixed in the next version? if so, does anyone know of the approximate date on which it is to be released?
Thank you for your attention and help.

Hi Morgoth3,
With the problems in the reported sticky as each build is released some of the issues will get fixed during each build. The progress by PC Tools has been good throughout the last couple of builds. Some issues may take longer then others to resolve depending on the problem.
The best way to determine if it will work well for you is to download the trial version of SDv5.0.0.184 and see if this runs well on your computer. If you want this, download from www.pctools.com/spyware-doctor/.
PC Tools are also still working on SDv4.1 which is also a great product and uses the same signature database as SDv5. This can be downloaded from http://www.pctools.com/spyware-doctor/version4/.
Ive been on these forums for a while and have not come across any issues with SDv5 and AVAST. Seems to play nicely together.
Anti-Spyware and Anti-Virus programs will generally slow down your computer to a certain extent, this is due to the real-time protection constantly monitoring any threats and to keep them to a minimal. It is not advised to run more then one Anti-spyware or Anti-Virus real time protection. However, its a good idea to run scans with several AS and AV programs as one might detect something the other has missed. Depends on how much protection you like. For me one AS and AV is enough. This is to avoid potential conflicts.
Overall, I have tried both SDv4.1 and SDv5.0.0.184 and both of these have been running very smoothly. Some users on the forum are experiencing problems and this forum is a great place to get the issues out there so that the moderators can pass these issues to the developers to resolve, hence the Reported Sticky threads.
Goodluck :D
Cheers,
Chippa
