I have SD 5.0.0.184. I have been using bitdefender 10 for AV. Before my bitdefender subscription is up I wanted to try SD w/AV.
Can I just download the SD 5 w/AV over the SD 5 standalone version or do I have to uninstall all of SD and reinstall SD w A/V? Is the SD5 with A/V the 184 version?
Thanks,
Deb

Hi
I would suggest a total uninstall, reinstall just for cleanliness. Even though the SD bits are the same, there is no way to just download/upgrade to SD+AV without getting the whole package.
Hope that helps

Thanks for your response. I did what you suggested and everything went smoothly. Running beautifully. I believe my system is a bit faster with the SD antivirus instead of bitdefender.

Your system might actually be running faster with the PCTools AV add-on. PCWorld has an article this month that mentions BitDefender. It is described as a very competent AV, but it was a bit heavy-handed on the resources.

Hi
Thats what I like about SD+AV, its an all-in-one package so the memory footprint is very small :D

i'm afraid although sd w av is good it will only be included in the regular licence till your next renew:(. if you want to continue using it after that you will have to cancel you current licence and get a new one for sd w av

i really think pctools should include av in the standard licence even if it costs more

Oh I'm sure there will be a charge for it but I believe it will be cheaper for me than getting bitdefender separately.

you won't be charged for it automatically:(

you have to use the link in the element 5 email to turn off auto-renew then when your old licence runs out get sd w av

it is ridiculously over complicated
