Ok, here goes....
earlier this week I found that when selecting to explore a folder this then defaulted to desktop (no matter where I selected to explore)
So I went to Folder options>File Types and tried switching the Folder options back to 'open' (as I have them set to 'Explore' as default) this still didn't work so I tried creating a new explore option (pointing at explore.exe) to see if this would resolve, which it did...
Although now, when I right click Start Menu I have multiple options for 'Open' and 'Explore' and when trying to delete the original ones from folder options the 'remove' option is greyed out (even though I'm Admin)
Also, now when launching folder windows they open within a new window instead of the 'open within existing' as set in folder options.
Any ideas????
