Hi Kimm
The bytes sent/received is a traffic statistics, so what gets counted is are all characters on a message, all what is readable eg in email, or on a internet page etc plus all "wrapping" as required by the protocols used. Nice to see, may give you an indication why your are running slow - lots of data over a slow connection will take long.

The "bps" gives you the top connection speed that was established when your modem contacted its partner modem (eg. at the ISP). Depending on the modem settings, the actual speed will adjust to line conditions (go slower / then faster again), but these dynamic speed changes aren't reflected in this number.

If you know that you will be doing a large filetransfer (several MBs), it makes sense to check what initial speed was found, and if you have a slow connection, disconnect and dial again before starting the download (maybe several times) until you get the best known speed.

That's what I was thinking Richard, it just seemed like an enormous #. Even when I first log on in email, but I guess if its counting every little character then every little character counts. Thank-you
