Taskbar properties won't stick

Whenever I start windows, the taskbar properties are set to small icons OFF and auto-hide OFF. I change them both to ON. But, alas, whenever I restart windows, they go back to OFF. They don't remember my settings! How can I make it so windows remembers that i want small icons and autohide!!

[I searched for this topic but couldn't find anything; please point me to appropriate thread if it has already been covered]

try searching the registry for the setting NoSaveSettings If its there delete it
