Hi
Also a shredder option to integrate into the Shell so that right-clicking gives you the option to shred.

i think a button in ie and firefox should have a button which when clicked would switch into a mode where all info about pages visited would be securely deleted. also i think this mode should also be activated when visiting https

You guys are going to charge 39.95 for this product
I suggest you give at least a 50%discount to existing pc tools customers
because right know i will not buy this product at this price
I realise you need to make money with this after all your in the business to make money
but price to me and alot of your customers is a issue to
I bought spyware doctor because it was 20 dollars at a comp usa
I hope you consider my suggestion about the price
because at its current price I dont think many people will be buying it and
I am sure alot of your customers will agree.

Personally I did not like PG and didnt think it to be worth the $. I Do like RM and have used it for some time now. In its current form I wouldn't pay more than the $30 for DM. Add a couple more features to it and it would be well worth the $40. I like the lay out of the UI of DM much better than RM and PG.
Instead of just linking to Window's defrag, why not create your own defrag.
Add a link to scan disk.

i think pctools should make a addon for spyware doctor so you can schedule DM's tasks using the scheduler in spyware doctor

Shouldn't be too much to complain about. PCTools is giving you at least three programs bundled together for what many other companies charge you for just one.

It's a great idea, I hope PCTOOLS and ENCORE don't give up on it. It has promiss. Just a few pointers for PCTOOLS and I am sure other's will reply with their own ideas.
1st : Don't have the option to selectDefragment the Hard drive unless you have a defragmenting program that you designed that is better than the one that Windows Vista/XP etc..... Uses..... It makes your company look stupid to have a selection to use something that is already available.
2nd : Don't Keep telling people that you are going to fix a software program such as Registry Mechanic, when PCTOOLS Comes out with a program like Desktop Mechanic and "I can tell the TEMP/SHORTCUT problem is fixed with that program" so it would be nothing to fix it for registry mechanic. I know it says beta but I just got a message to upgrade to BUY the program.
3rd : Stop taking up so much memory on the computer, you can do better than that! Speed is the issue "Important things for computer use are the issue", just a thought and I couldn't help but mention that, please pass it on to the programmers.
4th : I'm sure I'm gonna hear from some idiot that doesn't like what I have to say "A NON-PCTOOLS person" but that's ok so I will say to them now "HAVE A NICE WHATEVER.
5th : An Internet Connection Optimization selection would be AWESOME for Desktop Mechanic and is a MUST! I'm sure by now you are starting to realize that I am comparing Desktop Mech. To System Care and System Mechanic.
For one thing I paid 50 dollars for a 5 USER program with System Care "NEW PRG.", used to be known as VCOMM's System Suite but they sold the company and now have a powerfull trend micro virus protection addition.
Don't get me wrong I don't reprisent anyone from any of these companies these are just my "OPINIONS".
Desktop Mechanic could be great but it needs some xtra things that just aren't there. I mean why would somebody in the public buy a program with just a few additions to a normal program when they could buy a program that does 100's of things????
Ok one last thing, "WHY IS THE TEMP/SHORTCUT" PROBLEM WITH WINDOWS VISTA FIXED WITH DESKTOP MECHANIC AND NOT REGISTRY MECHANIC AND YOU KEEP SAYING THAT IT'S GOING TO BE FIXED"? If the company is too stupid to NOT know how to fix the program with RM but can make a new one and CHARGE PEOPLE ULTIMITALLY then I don't want anything else to do with this companies programs...... Just a few honest opinions.

Thanks for all the feedback/suggestions. I will continue to pass this information on to the developers for consideration.
Mr Freeze, regarding the RM not removing Shortcut and Temporary files, a new build will be released shortly with this fixed. Hopefully the new build will be released sometime this week or next week. I will update you on this once I receive more information.

i personally disagree with you on that. a stand built in defragmenter would be helpful but untill that is developed the link is better than nothing
maby if you cuuld combine it with a sceduller so you could sceduel all maintanence operations from one place it would be a selling point
the link is helpful but it needs the sceduelr and built in defragmenter to back it up
perhaps if registy monitor also could measure levles of fragmentation and alutomatically silently defrag when it reached a certain %
also how about a silent mode (scans and everything but doesn't tell you or let you change settings) which needs uac/its one password to unlock. thatand the ability to send statas repoirts to an email address would make it ideal for networks. maby bring it out as an enterprise edition

Does PCTools plan on adding Secure File Deletion to the explorer context menu in Desktop Mechanic the way Privacy Guardian has it?
The lack of this is the only thing keeping me from switching from the Free PG and buying DM. :(

Is Desktop Mechanic still available ?
If So, I have a 'free trial version of Privacy guardian and a bought copy of Registry mechanic (till Jan 2008).
Can I combine the 2 ?
Then - will my subscription apply to Mechanic ?
Thanks

Hi
Please note if you have bought a license for Registry Mechanic it WILL NOT work in Desktop Mechanic
And yes you can combinate the 2 programs bot please note it WILL NOT give all Desktop Mechanic features(like graphic information)

I don't understand why you can't provide the ability of allowing product updates to work behind a proxy server since almost all other software products have this ability.
I guess you don't want to sell this product to the many business customers who work behind proxy server protected firewalls?

I have passed this on to the developers and this has been added as a feature request.

Thanks for the feedback. This has been passed on to the developers. In the meantime, just uncheck cache and history section for Firefox from cleaning.

I'm running 2.0.0.332 with Firefox 3, XP sp2.
One thing that bugs me is that on most tools like this when you hit the X box they minimize to the system tray and continue to run. DM ends. I forget and do it half the time out of habit and have to restart the program. It would be nice to have DM act like most all the other tools. Obviously you'd need an exit option from the tray. No wait. You already have a close on the tray icon.
I would also like the warning pop up to either stay on the sceen longer or let me set a number of seconds for it.
In cleaning you might as well wipe out the SOL files from flash. I went and got an add on in Firefox to do it but I went ahead and put in a custom clean for it.
I haven't figured out what files are temps yet in Java but the same goes there.
It would be nice if it would list a bunch of these FF performance tweaks(IE probably too) and let me choose which ones I want to change or set. Depending on your systems capacity and your network speed they are fairly standardized now at least for FF. I've had to go through a gazillion posts on the net to find them. This one is probably a stretch but you do say optimize performance on there.
In performance, I would like to know what exactly all the changes were made, ie. performance change log. Everything else is logged.
It might be good to clean out any of your company's products old logs past some user settable number of days or a month or something reasonable.
Select Firefox cookies to keep when cleaning cookies? I could go further and even want it to go look at the FF cookie exceptions list(the only cookies I allow to stay on my machine) and use that.
Thats all I can think of for now. Thanks for listening.
