First, I'm running Vista Ultimate. The registry cleaner in DM is much faster than
RM and the shortcut/temp file problem appears to have been resolved. In the clean your computer area, windows section, Outlook Mail is listed but not Microsoft Mail (Vista). In all sections you are asked to check the items to be cleaned, but when you enter the section for the first time, all associated items are already checked. One must uncheck the ones not wanted. It would be nice if nothing was checked upon entry or an option was presented to select all or clear all . I didn't try the drfrag yet or the "optimize"

hi
defrag is just a link to windows defrag
rm is not designed for vista so it will be slower
i think you should be required to review sections to clean before you first scan to prevent data loss

Hi..
I didn't actually clean anything..I was just looking through the menus. I agree
with the review, and at the very least a log showing what data was deleted.
I used to use WebRoots Win Washer but an update caused the pgm to delete some files I didn't want deleted. It took me "forever" to figure out was was going on. A log would have shown me instantly. WebRoot email support is a software program...I hate those. Even MS is doing it now. Anyway I couldn't make it understand what I wanted a log for, so I ditched the program and now use a freeware pgm called ccleaner. It has a "preview"...called analyze. Shows you all the data it will delete before actually doing the clean. One thing I forgot to mention....clicking the "X" to end DM still produces the "pregnant pause".
I didn't run Optimize because I couldn't find the specifics (tweaks, reg changes, etc). I've had enough problems with Vista without blindly executing some "unknown" changes to make things better..<G>

optimize just improves windows access to the registry
it automatically creates backups so its safe to use:)

Thanks for the information. I have ran the clean process and after each clean
it does allow you to look at the log (of what it cleaned). I would agree with Tom in being able to see what was selected for deletion prior to the actual delete. I would also like to deselect individual items. One minor thing ...I use Firefox and when asked if I want to view the log, and window comes up saying the last execution of Firefox failed, and do I want to resume or restart...I just close the window, and the log comes up. (Firefox not running at the time).
