I'm running Spyware Doctor 5.0.0.179 and Zone Alarm Security Suite 7.0.337.0007 with Anti-Spyware and Anti-Spyware Update turned off. The only problem I'm now having with Spyware Doctor is an occasional STOP BSOD; the last one was four days ago. Everything else is fine: overall system speed, scanning speed, Internet connection, etc. Note my first sentence: maybe not necessary, but I've turned off Zone Alarm's Anti-Spyware module. As many have stated, do not have more than one type of security tool running actively: it might work, and then again you may experience strange and unexplainable errors.

Like everyone else, I'm hoping that all remaining reported errors will be corrected soon. One thing I'll say about PC Tools: when a problem is reported in the forums, it's immediately picked up by a moderator and forwarded to the development team. This is quite a change from what I've been used to with other security software in the past.

I would give that a try - if I was confident that SD 5's guards were as good as those for SD 4. I have read nothing that gives me a warm fuzzy about that, so I figure I need as many layers of defense as possible. And since this worked find w/ SD 4, I figure I shouldn't have to hobble that setup just to get SD 5 to work.

the guards in 5 are much better than those in 4. the addition of file guard more than makes up for the loss of site guard

It's having more than one anti-virus tool running that will give you problems but having more than one anti-spyware usually won't.

Hi
Im running ZoneAlarm Antispyware alongside SDv5 with no conflicts (did have a FP related to an SDv5 registry immunization - this was fixed in the next detection update by ZoneLabs). I also run a HIPS app called System Safety Monitor, and Spware Guard and Spyware Blaster. Running several antispyware at the same time is usually not an issue (although you do still have to be careful!)

Hi Hammer,

Thanks for the feedback. Really appreciate it. :)

The stop error is still being worked on by the developers and a fix should be released shortly for this and other reported issues.

there is little point of having more than one antispyware. if you want more protection use online scanners

Hi
The only reason i have ZoneAlarm Antispyware aswell as SDv5 is that ZA has the pro firewall built in (and its cheaper than the pro firewall :) ) The HIPS is preventative for ALL kinds of malware :)
