I have been watching the forums for a while. It seems that with each new ver 5 update there are more problems. I have been using ver 4 on my Vista machine without any problems for a few weeks. The ver 5 I have on my XP machine does not do anything. Will not update or scan. Have uninstalled, reinstalled, nothing. Most of the time, it says Sd disconnected. I am not going to be a beta tester for all these so called updates. Let me know when it works. And by the way, it is not an isolated issue, more often then not for every problem you fix, another pops up.

For me there is no way SD5 will be going back on untilll
"Slow responsiveness with IE7 (slow web browsing and unresponsive behaviour)"
changes from just being Reported to fixed. Tyhe slow upon my laptop made it unusable,

Its not just IE7 thats the problem As with http://www.pctools.com/forum/showthread.php?t=46779 below everthing ran slow.
The other problem is my wife takes a dim view of using some thing she isn't used to. Mainly use Opera and have done for years (that was also slowed but less so when I tried SD5)

just try one of the many ie lookalike themes for firefox, you can hardly tell the difference

I'm using the "Looks Familiar" Firefox theme. It looks about like IE6.

I'm running firefox and sd5 is no good (yet). Way to slow on user switching + BSOD. I've gone back to v4 until it is fixed.

No amount of internal and beta testing can resolve all problems. I think PC Tools took a greater risk at trying out new technologies and sophisticated functionality in order to be the 'best' but unfortunately Vista and 64-bit technologies are proving to be a nightmare for the developers. They will get it eventually. :D

yep...
it has always been the problem of antimalware programs that the need to constantly update to combat the rapidly evolving threats of the Internet have lead to some premature releases
