Is anyone else having difficulty browsing since installingV5. As soon as spyware Doctor Starts my system locks and browsing is impossible until the scans are completed. All my processing powere is taken by the scan. Any help anyone.

Can I ask what build of SDv5 you are using? (The latest is 5.0.0.179) Do you have "Scan on Stratup" enabled?

The build was the latest. I have now uninstalledV5 & re installed V4 but now cannot remove the V5icon from the System tray. Any ideas. Scan on startup was enabled.

Hi
When you uninstalled, did you exit V5 first? If not can you please do the following:
1. Boot Windows in Safe Mode (press [F8] repeatedly before Windows loads) - make sure you are NOT connected to the internet at this time as you will be vunerable to attack
2. Find and remove any files related to SDv5 (usually in C:\Program Files\Spyware Doctor) - I appreciate that files from V4 will be present here so this might be tough
If V4 is getting in the way too much:
1. In Safe Mode, uninstall V4
2. Find and remove any files/folders related to V5
3. Reboot in Normal mode
4. Reinstall version4

can you see the icon in safe mode?

if so you will not be able to delete those files without stopping the spyware doctor processes

Thanks for comments. I have successfully uninstalled SD V5 and given it up as a "Dead Loss " It just will not run on my computer. Have reinstalled SD V4 an dnow have boot up problems with Server Busy notice. At 71yrs and not a techie I have given up hope .

Looks like your problem may be related to the following thread: http://www.pctools.com/forum/showthread.php?t=46904. May be something related in the latest Smart Update. We are currently looking into this and will implement a fix shortly.

Could you please confirm if you have Email Guard or Site Guard installed?

cubfox, can you go to OnGuard and go through the list to see if Site Guard or Email Guard is there?

Normally browser related issues are associated with Site Guard. We have removed this, while the developers are working on the issues with Site Guard.

Also, if you disable OnGuard are you still receiving the lock ups with your browser?

Hi Anthony, Thanks for your reply.I have done a check as requested with ON GUARD unchecked and the "Server Busy" message still appears. If I leave the computer to do its own thing I noticed that after my firewall loaded I could clear the Server Busy box. This could not be done previously. Also SITE GUARD is listed in ON GUARD but not E Mail Guard.

My Firewall is PREVENTON.V2.1 by Preventon Technologies Ltd which I have had installed for about 4 yrs without any problems although I do have to provide an open port for Mailwasher Pro to operate correctly.
