Hello...
I came across this problem last fall. It has to due w/ new security measures in Win2k. They want to prevent any "normal user" from copying software from the machine. So they only allow Administrators the rights to write to CDs. Working with adaptec we were able to duplicate and existing service and modify it to call a batch file that ran the CD Creater program. Since a service runs as System this worked just fine. However this worked for version 3.5c and I am not sure if it works on any newer version.
A possibilty of why this was done may be because the next Windows OS - Windows XP has its own CD Recording software built into it that from what I have read ANY user will be able to use.
Hope that helps
